The R&D Process: From Bold Concept to Hardware Reality

Which materials do you use for CNC milling, 3D printing, and laser cutting?

Choice of material is vital for functionality. I work with high-performance plastics and wood. Whether you need a rugged industrial part or a refined aesthetic finish, I select materials based on your project's mechanical requirements and lifecycle.

Why work with a local Berlin-based prototyping and R&D studio?

Hardware is physical. Being in Berlin allows for rapid hands-on iteration and "on-the-fly" adjustments that digital-only communication can't match. I provide local engineering and design expertise for Berlin's startup ecosystem and industrial sector.

What do I need to know when I work with a Creative Agency like yours?

The clients I've worked with have ranged from individuals who didn't know what they needed to engineers who knew exactly what they needed. My approach is design with empathy. You will be informed about every step of the process, and questions are always welcome.

We have a prototype that is failing or stuck. Can you step in to fix it?

Yes, often. I audit existing R&D projects to identify issues and bottlenecks that are hindering progress. Remember, sometimes a few creative ideas from a third party are enough.

How do you approach interactive multimedia installations and art production?

I treat multimedia as an engineering challenge. I combine custom electronics, sensors, and structural design to create immersive experiences. I handle everything from the initial creative concept to the technical implementation of hardware and software.

What is better for me? 3D printing or CNC milling?

I get asked this question a lot. The short answer is that this detail is the least important. Any manufacturing technology is just a tool. We develop the best vision for your product, and often, a combination of tools is required. Get ready to be surprised—there are many different ways to bring an MPV or a product to life.

How do you handle NDAs and intellectual property for new inventions?

I regularly work with sensitive R&D. An NDA can be signed before we discuss details.

Do you handle the electronics and software integration, or just the physical prototype?

Both are handled. I specialize in synthesizing "hard and soft," meaning I build the physical shell and internal mechanics and write the code that drives them. An ad hoc support team might be created for that job. Leave the headaches to me!

Can you help with small-batch production once the prototype is finished?

es. After we nail the Hardware MVP, I can assist in small-batch manufacturing or help you transition to large-scale production. Whether it’s 3D-printed parts, CNC-milled components, or laser-cut assemblies, we ensure the design is optimized for manufacturing (DFM).

How much will it cost me?

Design/R&D projects cover a wide spectrum, from 3D printing an object from an existing file to developing a product from start to finish. Depending on your needs, you will receive an advance quote. No risks necessary!

How fast can we go from a CAD file or sketch to a functional Hardware MVP?

Depending on its complexity, a functional proof of concept usually takes four to six weeks. My goal is to provide you with a working version as soon as possible so you can test theory against reality.  You will receive a precise time estimate and a strategic approach for the entire project.

We have a visionary concept but don't know if it’s physically possible. Can you tell us?

Yes. The process starts with a technical audit to find the "how" (or the "why not"). I identify the physical and logical barriers before you waste a budget on impossible builds. Before a single object is pronted, you will be presented with a Perliminary Strategic R&D plan
