La source du monde

In May 2026, I was invited to visit and create an artwork for one of the buildings at the Wumuchong International Art Zone in Meitanba, Hunan, China. The artwork was created inside a long ditch which was part of a machine room.

The Artwork is inspired by the nature of China and the the Art Zone itself. Its made 100% of recycled materials from the old coal mine.

The artworks depicts a world on one edge of the ditch, created by energy coming from the pipes originating from the opposite side. The energy is blasting from the pipes and turning into a red sea. There are Three temples the temple of beneath inside the sea, the temple of now and here on the shore and the temple of above on one of the hills. While the temple of above and beneath are marked with a piece of non natural material, the temple of the now is marked with a man made piece of baked clay.

The sea is in direct touch with the organ of creation - the pipes that deliver the energy of life and creation, its also fed by water coming from the work the pipes created. Its never a one way street. Its in a constant state of balance.

The Temple of above is connected via a bridge to the dark forest. A place where the fears and the unknowns reside. The temple represents the connection established between a the sole of a person with their fears. Staying in connection with what might be pleasant is while challenging, is crucial for maintaining a stable mind and the ability to handle rough situations when then arrive.

The world with its 3 phases representing it, is an analogy of our existence. Our past, present and future. Our inspirations, dreams and our secrets. Our spirit and body. They all share the same level of importance. none of them is better of worse. They are there to coexist and balance each other.
